Why It Matters
The KPM porcelain connection is real, not decorative. Rooms contain handcrafted porcelain art by Berlin sculptor Michael F. Langer. Restaurant Dong A serves on actual KPM URANIA and URBINO pattern porcelain. The 260-year-old factory is next door with guided tours available. KPM Hotel & Residences opened in September 2019 on the grounds of the 260-year-old Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur, where handcrafted KPM porcelain objects appear throughout the rooms as genuine art pieces. The architecture — a slate-gray steel facade with floor-to-ceiling glass and cubist bay windows, designed by prize-winning firm Axthelm Rolvien — stands in deliberate contrast to the historic factory buildings next door.
