L’Alpaga
Contemporary alpine hamlet. Traditional Savoyard chalet architecture with a chic, art-directed interior overhaul. Faux-fur draped chairs, fire torches, velvet banquettes — mountain-casual by day, quietly glamorous by night.
Book La Table de L'Alpaga well in advance — it's winter-only (December to March), Wednesday to Sunday, with just one seating from 7:30pm
Why It Matters
The hamlet concept is genuinely rare: ten chalets interconnected via underground tunnels (you can go to breakfast in your slippers) forming one cohesive property. Add a Michelin-starred restaurant run by Chef Alexandre Baule and an outdoor heated pool facing Mont Blanc that stays open year-round, and it's one of the most complete mountain stays in the French Alps.
L'Alpaga is ten traditional Savoyard chalets stitched together into a private alpine hamlet, sitting above Megève at 1,100m with direct views of Mont Blanc. New York-based studio Charles & Co redesigned the interiors — forest green, grey blue, earth brown, burnished leather — while a curated collection of local artworks by painter Gabriel Micheletti and photographer Gwenaëlle Grandjean lines the walls. It's not a conventional hotel. Think of it as a village you have mostly to yourself.
