A 4-star hotel on a 31-hectare estate whose roots stretch back to the 12th century — but L'EssenCiel is nothing like what that description implies. The hotel itself is a patented architectural statement: a concrete structure shaped like a monumental tree, with 36 pod-like rooms suspended from its branches at heights up to 28 metres. Six more rooms sit on the ground for those who'd rather not dangle over the Breton countryside. Rooms are 26m², all essentially identical, done in a warm minimalist palette. And behind the hotel: a Michelin-starred restaurant, a 300m² spa, 60+ monumental sculptures, and working artists' studios.

From EUR165 / nightThe real deal: suspended between 5 and 28 metres above the estate, these pods are the ones in every architectural magazine. The higher you go, the wider the panorama across the Breton countryside. The same 26m² shell as all other rooms, but the sensation of sleeping airborne is something else entirely. The highest rooms top out at 28 metres — four storeys of sky beneath you. Spa access is included.

Le Nid Essence
From EUR140 / nightThe four ground-floor pods. Same 26m² bubble format as the elevated rooms, same minimalist pale wood and sky-tone decor, but without the height. Three of these rooms are fully adapted for reduced mobility. A good choice if vertigo is a factor, though you miss the defining sensation of the hotel.

Le Nid Sur Les Bois
From EUR150 / nightPerched at 5 metres above the estate's kitchen garden, these are the entry point to the suspended experience. The spherical room hangs from the hotel's concrete branches, with a large oculus window framing the grounds below. Light wood cladding, minimal furniture, and an intimate cocoon feel. Spa access is included.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Hands-on workshops in the estate's working artists' studios, led by resident artists Sylvie, Gwénaël, Marc, Mickaël, Yann, and Carole. Disciplines include wood, metal, and stone carving; paper modelling; linocut; pottery; floral art; and plant design. Sessions run in small groups. Pottery workshops are €100 per person (adults and teens 10+).

A 2km walking trail through 31 hectares of meadows and forest, lined with a permanent exhibition of 60+ monumental sculptures. Open to the public year-round. The park is the 4th most visited natural area in Ille-et-Vilaine with over 60,000 visitors per year.
A seasonal picnic package available from late May through late August, letting guests enjoy the sculpture park grounds with a curated picnic experience.
Led by resident artist Carole, seasonal workshops in the estate's kitchen garden cover soil cultivation, observation of living things, and gardening techniques. Themes evolve across the seasons.
