L'Hôtel Particulier Montmartre
Bohemian art-house luxury. Each suite is a collaboration with a different contemporary artist, and the property regularly hosts photo shoots, interviews, and film crews. Red velvet banquettes, leopard carpets, camellia wallpaper, a glass-ceilinged cocktail bar — there's nothing understated about the interiors. But the overall atmosphere is intimate and low-key rather than showy.
The hotel address is listed as 23 Avenue Junot but the actual entrance is a gate at the end of a narrow unmarked cobbled alley — look for the passageway off the main avenue
Why It Matters
Formerly the Hermès family home, it holds the distinction of being Paris's smallest hotel while also boasting the capital's largest hotel garden. Each of the five suites is designed by a different visual artist, making it effectively a rotating gallery you can sleep in. The cocktail bar, Le Très Particulier, has its own cult following and is open to non-guests.
Paris's smallest hotel and one of its most secretive. A Directoire-style mansion hidden at the end of a cobbled alleyway off Avenue Junot, once owned by the Hermès family, now home to five artist-designed suites and what claims to be Paris's largest hotel garden — 900 square metres of protected greenery designed by Louis Bénech, who also worked on the Jardin des Tuileries. Often compared to the Château Marmont in Los Angeles for its art-world clientele, bohemian ease, and the sense that you've stumbled into someone's very stylish private home rather than a commercial hotel.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
DJ sets every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the cocktail bar Le Très Particulier. Open to non-hotel guests.
The 900m² private garden is the hotel's signature feature — designed by Louis Bénech (also behind the Jardin des Tuileries renovation). Breakfast and lunch can be served outdoors in the garden. Chickens, birds, and cats roam freely as part of the property's biodiversity commitment.
A curated library of contemporary art and design books, plus CDs and DVDs available for guests in the salon.
A pétanque terrain adjacent to the hotel garden. Very Parisian, very low-key.
The property can be fully privatised for up to 120 guests. The events team arranges press launches, film shoots, private dinners, cocktail receptions, and even artistic activations like live illustrations and Montmartre 2CV tours.
