Listed in both Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels. The only boutique hotel in town with a heated outdoor pool that faces the medieval castle. Individually decorated rooms — no two the same — range from pop-art orange family rooms to a two-room suite with a freestanding bathtub.
Directly across from the 12th-century Château de Noirmoutier, this 23-room boutique hotel is the best-located place to stay on the island. The building itself is over a hundred years old, but a full renovation in 2012 gave it a sharp maritime aesthetic: grey walls, seagrass flooring, Tolix chairs on the terrace, and a monochromatic edge that feels contemporary rather than nautical-kitsch. Run by Marianne and her team, it has the easy warmth of a guesthouse — homemade caramels left in rooms, a mini guide to the island written by the owner, afternoon tea in the lounge.

Rooms 01-03 each have distinct personalities: Room 01 has a patinated zinc basin on concrete, baroque gilded mirror; Room 02 has black-and-white bicolour walls and a raw wood bench; Room 03 features a decorative Île de Noirmoutier panel with rooftop terrace views. All three have full bathtubs.

The standout room for couples who want a view. Room 20 has a slate-headboard double bed (160cm), solid wood desk, black Eames chair, and warm gold wall sconces. The Italian walk-in shower is tiled in black slate. But the real draw is the private terrace with direct, unobstructed views of the Château de Noirmoutier's towers.

Rooms 21 and 23 overlook the heated pool. Room 21 has a dark grey raw-wood headboard with a blue Noirmoutier GPS-coordinates cushion, a suspended chain-hung mirror, and whitened wood wall cladding. Room 23 has grey Venetian blinds, an industrial-style desk with a kettle, and an open-plan bathroom with a square basin on a wood countertop.

Rooms 22 and 24 sleep a family of four with a double bed plus bunk beds. Room 22 is a vivid pop-art space: orange lacquered writing desk, an orange and white Louis XV chair, a 'Be Happy' wall quote, and orange-and-black checkerboard bathroom tiles. Room 24 is moodier — anthracite wood wall cladding, a grey velvet Voltaire armchair, and a large white subway-tiled bathtub with an industrial glazed screen.

Two-level rooms for up to four guests. Downstairs: double bed (140cm) with desk and sitting area. Room 17 has a red chair, a Noirmoutier beach basket on the wall, and a spectacular multicolour retro-tiled bathroom with three round black mirrors. Very popular with families.

The hotel's top room. The children's area has a white iron bed with star-print pillows and a white baroque armchair. A glazed screen separates the tub from the bedroom for a semi-spa feel. Private terrace included.

The hotel rents orange and grey bikes — a practical and popular way to explore the island. Noirmoutier is flat, the cycling infrastructure is good, and the island is small enough to circuit in a day. Bikes are stored securely on-site.
The hotel's courtyard pool is heated, which matters here — the Atlantic coast is not always warm. Sun loungers (black and orange) surround the wooden deck. The pool is illuminated at night. Accessible to all hotel guests.
