La Darbia is a 20-suite apartment-hotel on a hilltop above Lake Orta, conceived by architect brothers Gian Carlo and Matteo Primatesta who transformed disused farmland and a crumbling stone watchtower into something genuinely special. The style is modern-rustic with residential-grade construction — custom woodwork, natural materials, a working Nebbiolo vineyard on the terraces — and not a single tree was removed to make room for it. Every suite faces the lake, every morning begins with a generous Italian breakfast, and dinner at La Cucina is reason enough to visit independently of where you sleep.
