Why It Matters
Relais & Châteaux member since 1979. Adjacent to Garlenda Golf Club (par 72, named among the world's top 10 by The Sunday Times). Cellar holds all Solaia, Sassicaia and Tognanello vintages from 1978 onwards. The property was designed by Luisa Berto de Segre in the 1970s and the Segre family has run it since 1983.
La Meridiana is a 26-room Relais & Châteaux property that looks like it was transplanted from the English countryside or Provence and dropped into the Ligurian hills. Two miles inland from the beaches of Alassio, with Golf Club Garlenda — one of the Sunday Times' top-10 golf courses in the world — literally next door. Every room is different, the interiors read as genuinely collected rather than decorator-assembled, and owner Edmondo Segre's 2,000-label wine cellar is the kind of thing serious drinkers talk about for years.
