La Posada del Faro
Laid-back beach house sophistication. Rustic maritime character with rattan furniture, wood-beamed ceilings, and artwork throughout. Feels like staying at a well-traveled friend's seaside home rather than a hotel.
Book well in advance — the hotel is reportedly full months ahead during January and February peak season
Why It Matters
One of Jose Ignacio's original boutique properties and a Michelin Guide-listed hotel. It reportedly fills up months ahead of time every summer season. It's also said to be the only hotel in town with its own beach restaurant. The honest, no-frills-but-thoughtful approach to hospitality sets it apart from the increasingly flashy competition nearby.
La Posada del Faro is a 15-room, family-owned boutique hotel that has been doing things its own way since 1991 — one of the very first hotels to open in Jose Ignacio. Originally a family home, it was converted and designed by Chilean architect Mathias Klotz. The place runs on beach-house logic: hardwood floors, whitewashed ceilings, nature-inspired hues of cream, beige, and aquamarine, paintings by the owner's brother on the walls. No spa, no gym, no plunge pools — and staff will actually tell you this upfront. What it does have is a genuinely warm, understated atmosphere and a self-serve honesty bar, which counts for a lot in a town that's become one of South America's most sought-after beach destinations.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Beach gear is provided for guests — chairs, umbrellas, and towels available all day. The hotel sits steps from the Jose Ignacio bay, with Playa Mansa a short walk away.
Complimentary bikes available for guests at any time — no reservation needed, just take one and go. The compact village of Jose Ignacio is easily explored by bike, including the beach, restaurant strip, and the lighthouse.
The hotel keeps a small fleet of Club Cars for guests. Borrow one for a couple of hours to get to the beach or cruise to lunch at one of Jose Ignacio's restaurants. Ask at the front desk for availability.
A fishing boat departs from the nearest beach. Typical catches include sea bass, sole, and brotola. The hotel can help arrange it through the concierge.
Two kite and wind surf schools operate in and around Jose Ignacio, including one at Laguna Garzon. The concierge can point you in the right direction. Not on-site, but a core part of what the area offers.
Jose Ignacio and its surroundings have excellent vineyards. The concierge at reception can coordinate visits — ask when you arrive.
