La Réserve Genève is Geneva's definitive design-forward resort — the one place in a city full of stiff grand palaces that actually feels alive. Jacques Garcia (the man behind Hôtel Costes in Paris) designed the entire thing as an African lodge fantasy: think dark hardwoods, velvet bedspreads, fawn leather club chairs, granite bathrooms, and a giant elephant on the wall. It sits on 10 acres of lakeside park, five kilometers from downtown, with Mont Blanc framed in the window on clear days. The Spa Nescens, a Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant, and a summer boat shuttle into the city center round out what is genuinely one of Europe's most complete hotel experiences.

Hotel organizes or facilitates visits to CERN (Large Hadron Collider), MAMCO contemporary art museum, Maison Tavel (Geneva's oldest private house), the Charlie Chaplin Museum, the Olympic Museum, and the Museum of Art and History.

La Réserve's own vintage Riva motorboat runs between the hotel's private pier and Geneva city center. 12-minute ride across Lake Geneva. One of the great perks of the property — arriving downtown by vintage motorboat is a genuinely memorable way to start a Geneva afternoon.
