Why It Matters
Originally opened in the 1980s and famously owned by Richard Branson through the 1990s, it cemented its reputation as Mallorca's most-storied luxury address. Now under Belmond, the hotel has kept its intimate scale and artistic soul. No two rooms are alike. The olive oil pressed on the estate ends up in both the spa treatments and on your dinner table.
Two 16th- and 17th-century stone manor houses perched on a hillside in the artists' village of Deià, on Mallorca's rugged northwest coast. La Residencia sits in olive and citrus groves at the foot of the UNESCO-protected Tramuntana Mountains, with resident donkeys, an art collection spanning 85+ local artists, and an El Olivo restaurant housed in a 500-year-old olive press. A three-bedroom villa in the heart of Deià, a few minutes from the main hotel. Two queen-size bedrooms, one twin bedroom, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, open-fireplace living room, barbecue terrace, and a heated swimming pool. Named for the British poet Robert Graves who lived in Deià from 1929 until his death in 1985. Guests of the villa are invited to a private visit of La Casa de Robert Graves museum, run by his son William. Full access to all hotel facilities included.
