LA ROQQA opened in summer 2023 as the first 5-star hotel in Porto Ercole — a 55-room boutique property perched above the harbor on the Monte Argentario peninsula. It's the project of a Swedish family (the Jonssons) who fell hard for this corner of Tuscany and spent three years converting an older hotel into something genuinely new: a plastic-free, sustainability-forward retreat that takes its name from the Spanish-era fortress looming above the town. The design — handled by Milan's Palomba e Serafini Associati studio — channels 1960s and '70s Italian glamour through handcrafted furniture, a sculptural entrance staircase, and three distinct color palettes (Siena earth tones, deep greens, Argentario blue) that shift floor by floor.
