Why It Matters
Nottingham's only Tablet Hotels-listed property and the city's most recognised independent boutique hotel. The buildings date back to the 14th century (one was the home of the Bugge/Willoughby family). Independently owned and operated; not a chain. Rosette-awarded pub on site. 9 rooms added as recently as 2022.
Four historic buildings on High Pavement — numbers 25, 27, 29 and 31 — joined together to create Nottingham's go-to boutique hotel in one of the city's oldest and most architecturally interesting streets. The site has been a public house since at least 1832 and a hotel since 1996, most recently refurbished and expanded in 2022. All 51 rooms are individually designed, the on-site Cock & Hoop pub holds a Rosette award, and the views of St Mary's Church and the Georgian former law courts (now the National Justice Museum) are genuinely great.
