Why It Matters
Lanson Place's debut on Australian soil, built inside a protected 1901 heritage building after an $80M renovation. The art program alone — 450+ works, 325 of them commissioned — is serious. Add a 20-metre heated indoor pool, rooms with floor-to-ceiling views of the MCG, St Patrick's Cathedral and Parliament House, and a 3-minute walk to Parliament Station, and it punches hard in Melbourne's luxury hotel market.
Lanson Place Parliament Gardens is the brand's first Australian property, opened September 2024 after an $80 million conversion of the heritage-listed 1901 Salvation Army Printing Works. The original red-brick facade and grand arched windows anchor the building's identity, while a new contemporary tower rises above. Inside, 450+ commissioned artworks fill the corridors and rooms — including a 40-metre lobby ceiling installation that echoes both falling paper and the bark of a native melaleuca paperbark tree. With 137 rooms ranging from compact hotel rooms to full-floor penthouses, it plays equally well for a two-night city escape and an extended corporate stay.

How you'll actually spend your days.
After breakfast service ends each day, the Albert Lounge on Level 1 operates as a guest co-working space. Useful for extended-stay guests or those with flexible checkout arrangements.
Over 450 artworks are displayed throughout public areas and guest rooms, including 325 commissioned pieces inspired by the building's printing press history. The lobby features a 40-metre-long ceiling installation mimicking falling paper and the bark of a native melaleuca paperbark tree. Guests can experience the full collection simply by moving through the hotel.
Regular live jazz events hosted at Chronicle 502 Bar & Dining. The hotel actively promotes this as a recurring programme — a nice reason to base a dinner around a night in rather than heading out.
