Le Consulat
Art-focused boutique apartment-hotel. Residential in feel, with Pombaline architectural details and rotating Portuguese art on the walls. Not polished-corporate — more like a well-connected friend let you borrow their Chiado flat.
Square-view rooms are worth the upgrade — balcony-height views of the tram stop are genuinely charming — but budget for earplugs on Friday and Saturday nights
Why It Matters
The former Brazilian Consulate building gives it genuine bones, and the art partnership with Lisbon galleries makes each room genuinely distinct. The location directly on Praça Luís de Camões — in front of the historic tram 28 stop — is about as central as Lisbon gets.
Le Consulat occupies the second and third floors of a building that spent over a century as the Brazilian Consulate, right on Praça Luís de Camões in Chiado. The 18 rooms and apartments are each decorated with original works from prominent Portuguese art galleries, so you're sleeping inside a real collection. Think Pombaline bones — tall windows, parquet floors — updated with king beds, Nespresso machines, and kitchenettes in the larger units.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
The hotel operates its own catamaran on the Tagus River and Lisbon coastline. Routes pass the 25th April Bridge and Cristo Rei. Professional skipper and service staff included. Each guest gets a welcome drink and snacks. Up to 10 guests per tour. Available daily 7am–10pm with full refund for weather cancellations.
Shared sunset boat tour on the Tagus, 3 hours, priced per person rather than as a private charter. Great value option for solo travelers or pairs who want the catamaran experience without booking the whole boat.
Every Friday evening from 7pm to 11pm, the hotel's cocktail bar hosts live music. Cocktails and tapas available. Open to non-guests. A good way to spend a Lisbon Friday without going far.
Coworking space on the first floor of the building, 8am–6pm daily. Stylish environment with square views, good for guests who need to work during the day. Transforms into a bar and food venue at 6pm.
