Le Florentin Hôtel - Restaurant
Warm, modern bistronomic hotel with a distinctly local soul — think chocolate-brown and gold restaurant, lacquered piano bar, bubbling whirlpool baths in some rooms, and a family at the helm who genuinely care.
Ask for a rear-facing room when booking — quieter and most have terraces
Why It Matters
Michelin Guide-selected hotel in a part of Belgium most visitors skip entirely. Chef Philippe Duret trained at Le Moulin Hideux and Le Gastronome (Michelin-starred establishments) before anchoring here. The combination of serious cuisine, comfortable balneo rooms, and genuine Belgian Ardennes countryside access — 10 minutes from Orval Abbey — makes it punching above its price point.
A family-run bistronomic hotel in the heart of Florenville, right in the Gaume region of southern Belgium. The Fontenoy family has been rooted in this town since 1910, first in charcuterie, and now in hospitality — and it shows. Thirty-six rooms spread across classic doubles, apart-hotels, and balneo suites, all done in warm tones with oak parquet and proper king-size beds. The restaurant is the real draw, with Chef Philippe Duret cooking local and seasonal with serious technique, and a piano bar where a live pianist plays Friday and Saturday nights.
