Le Germain Charlevoix Hotel & Spa
Contemporary farm-chic — mid-century modern furniture, bold Quebec art, raw concrete and chrome details balanced against reclaimed wood beams and pastoral views. Warm and minimal, never sterile.

Why It Matters
MICHELIN Key recipient for 2025 (second consecutive year). On-site Charlevoix Train station lets you arrive straight from Quebec City without a car. Award-winning wine cellar (Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence 2024, ranked among top 25 wine destinations in Quebec). Green Key 4/5 certified. Aliments du Québec and Fourchette Bleue certified restaurants.
A 145-room design hotel spread across five farm-inspired pavilions on the outskirts of Baie-Saint-Paul, sitting between the St. Lawrence River and the Charlevoix mountains. Originally opened in 2012 as Hotel La Ferme, it was conceived by Daniel Gauthier (of Cirque du Soleil fame) to anchor the Charlevoix Train project — the property has its own station right on-site. Highland cattle still graze the fields, an 8,000 m² organic garden feeds both restaurants, and a Nordic spa anchors the wellness side of things. The whole setup is a convincing argument that luxury and agricultural terroir aren't mutually exclusive.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Fully equipped fitness room with high-end weight-training machines, accessible around the clock. Located with views of the hotel's fresh herb garden.
An annual spring event series (5th edition in 2026) where guest chefs join Chef Patrick Dubé at Les Labours for exclusive menus. $100/person, optional $100 wine pairing by sommelier Christian Beaupré.
A scenic railway that stops directly at the hotel's on-site station. Runs seasonally from Quebec City through to La Malbaie with panoramic views of the St. Lawrence and Charlevoix mountains. Arrive and depart without a car — particularly spectacular during fall foliage.
The hotel grounds include working farm paddocks with Highland cattle, sheep, chickens, bunnies, and alpacas. Guests can walk the trail and interact with the animals — a genuine highlight, especially for kids and anyone who has ever wanted a Highland cow to lick their hand.
The hotel runs its own farmers' market on the property during the summer months, showcasing local Charlevoix producers alongside the hotel's own garden harvest.
The hotel's 8,000 m² garden produces 7,525 kg of fruit and vegetables per year. Guest can explore this working kitchen garden which supplies garlic, squash, microgreens, and Gorria peppers to both restaurants.
Seasonal outdoor pool on the property for relaxation during warmer months.
Outdoor ice rink on the property during winter months. A popular activity between spa sessions and ski days.
On-site trails lead down to the banks of the St. Lawrence River. A great way to experience the scale of the river up close. Bikes available to borrow.
