Le Pavillon de Galon
Intimate, design-forward Provençal estate. Part photographer's eye, part horticulturalist's obsession. The interior mixes 1960s–70s French furniture with old paintings and contemporary photography — deliberately unfussy, never hotelier-slick. You're staying in someone's extraordinary home.
Book when the irises are blooming (late April–May) — the garden is at its most extraordinary
Why It Matters
Gardens hold the 'Jardin Remarquable' label from the French Ministry of Culture — one of the most coveted garden designations in France. The property also sits on what was once an important Roman villa, with original spring-fed water pools still in use. Featured in the Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels. Owned and personally run by the hosts, who produce their own wine (1,000 bottles/year), olive oil, honey, and preserves on-site.
Call it a B&B if you must, but that label does this place no favors. Le Pavillon de Galon is an 18th-century hunting lodge on 15 acres of gardens, orchards, and vineyards just 700 meters from the village of Cucuron, owned by French photographer Guy Hervais and his wife Bibi Gex. Three suites only — each with its own design personality, Hermès toiletries, and views of gardens that the French Ministry of Culture has officially designated as 'Remarkable.' The heated infinity pool is filled with natural spring water from Roman-era mines still flowing underneath the property.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
Cooking classes in the main kitchen using organic vegetables and fruits produced on the estate. Arranged through the hosts on request.
Classic and electric bike rentals arranged on request, with routes through trails and bike paths rather than main roads. Ideal for reaching nearby villages and vineyards.
Full access to the 5-hectare estate gardens during your stay — awarded 'Jardin Remarquable' by the French Ministry of Culture. Contemporary French formal garden created in 2004, with 300-year-old plane trees, sculpted hedges, basins fed by ancient springs, olive grove in a spiral formation, iris beds, and a collection of French artichokes.
15m x 5m heated infinity pool filled with natural spring water. Two independent wood decks, naturally scented with Ylang Ylang. Mosquito-free using a natural trapping system. Shared exclusively among the three suites.
Roman-era pools (30m x 13m) fed by underground springs that date to antiquity. Includes a small beach area. A wilder, more natural swimming experience than the infinity pool.
On-site pétanque. Very French. Do it.
The garden can host up to 50 guests for lunch parties, art exhibitions, and receptions. Collaboration with Michelin-starred La Petite Maison de Cucuron for catering. The entire estate can also be rented exclusively for private events.
The estate produces its own wine ('Hocus Pocus') — about 1,000 bottles per year. Wine tastings can be arranged. The Côtes du Luberon and Rhône Valley vineyards are also nearby.
