Le Petit Pali at 8th Ave
Huntsman-chic meets coastal California cottage. Vintage art, wood paneling, plaid throws, floral headboards, and Diptyque toiletries — all layered with an eclectic but composed hand. The Palisociety aesthetic in its coziest form.
The 8th Ave location is typically a touch less expensive than the sister Ocean Ave property a few blocks away — both offer social hours so guests can move between them.
Why It Matters
Palisociety pulled off something rare: adding two new inns to a town that hasn't allowed new hotel construction in decades. They had to wait for existing properties to come available. The 8th Ave location is the smaller and often slightly cheaper of the two Carmel sister properties, with 24 rooms versus the 34-room Ocean Ave location a few blocks away.
A 24-room craftsman-style inn reimagined by Palisociety and opened in 2023. Think residential warmth over formal hotel — a central courtyard, lobby fireplace, and rooms that look like someone with genuinely good taste actually lives in them. It sits squarely in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, steps from boutiques and about five blocks from the beach, and leans closer to a high-end B&B than a full-service hotel. No pool, no spa, no gym. That's the point.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
Games available for guests — useful for the predictably foggy Carmel afternoons.
A highly personal and selective neighborhood guide provided at the property covering Palisociety's picks for dining, shopping, and experiences in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
Complimentary Linus bikes with baskets available for all guests to explore Carmel-by-the-Sea. Multiple bikes kept at the property; guests report they're generally available. Carmel's compact, walkable streets make this genuinely useful.
The hotel concierge can arrange family surfing lessons and Monterey Bay Aquarium tickets. Not on-site, but organized through the property.
