Why It Matters
One of very few upscale boutique options in Angoulême. Listed on Tablet Hotels and Michelin Guide. Interiors designed by architect Tristan Dohy using locally-sourced French materials. The heritage listing means no elevator — a genuine limitation to know upfront.
A former diocesan house that served priests as a retirement home for decades before two local entrepreneurs converted it into a sleek 4-star boutique hotel. The building is a classified Bâtiment de France — all stone exterior, period bones — but step inside and the design is thoroughly contemporary: walnut vertical cladding, kaki and gold tones, modernist Moroso Diesel armchairs, Cole & Son wallpaper, and hand-blown Vanessa Mitrani glass pendants. Sixteen rooms ranging from a compact 16 sqm studio to a 60 sqm prestige suite, with an outdoor pool and the on-site restaurant Père Deval anchoring the whole experience.
