Why It Matters
One of the smallest and most architecturally significant stays in central Florence. The Ricasoli family still owns the palazzo and the family's baroness continues to be involved. Furniture comes directly from Brolio Castle — the same estate that produces Barone Ricasoli Chianti Classico. The blue lion (Leone Blu) from the Ricasoli family crest appears throughout the property.
Nine suites on the noble floor of Palazzo Ricasoli, a 15th-century Florentine palace that has belonged to the same aristocratic family since 1474. Each suite is named after a different Ricasoli family member and designed entirely differently from the others — coffered ceilings, frescoed vaults, antique furniture shipped from the family's Brolio Castle in Chianti. It's more palazzo than hotel, and that's exactly the point.

The family suite. Split over two levels — the design reinterprets the traditional coffered ceiling concept through the conceptual art of Sol LeWitt. Open conversational bathroom is a deliberate design statement. The upper loft works well for kids while parents have space below. Management confirms it was 'designed specifically for families.'

Named for Geremia d'Ildebrando, the Lombard founder of the family who lived around year 1000. Arranged on two levels — a raised sitting area separates the double bedroom from the living room. Red curtains and gilded antique pelmets frame the windows dramatically, revealing the Arno in a theatrical reveal. Double shower in the en suite bathroom; separate guest bathroom. Extra bed available.

Described as 'The Secret Room' — a secluded, intimate suite despite its size. Named for a Ricasoli family member. The suite's character is defined by a sense of reserve and privacy.

Named after Orazio Ricasoli, poet and friend of Galileo Galilei. Features an antique bookcase as a central design element and what is reportedly the oldest wooden ceiling in the entire palazzo. A reproduction of an illustrated historical map of Florence hangs on the wall. Walk-in closet, coffee machine and minibar included.

Named for Pandolfo Ricasoli, a 16th-century colonel who helped defeat Siena. A surprising bold marble trompe l'oeil separates the sitting room from the bedroom. Portrait of Pandolfo in full armour dominates the walls. Double view onto Via del Parione and the central palazzo courtyard — not a river-view room. Particularly large walk-in wardrobe. Bathroom with high cascade shower.
