Why It Matters
Michelin Guide 2024 named it 'one of the world's most exciting hotels.' The original 1885 mosaic-tiled pool is fully restored and still in use. There's a working nightclub in the basement. The building's 140-year arc — spa to global nightclub icon to boutique hotel — is genuinely unlike anything else in Paris.
Les Bains started life in 1885 as Paris's most famous private spa — the haunt of Zola, Monet, and Marcel Proust. It then reinvented itself as Les Bains Douches, a nightclub so legendary that Andy Warhol, Prince, Kate Moss, and Depeche Mode all passed through Philippe Starck's infamous black-and-white checkered dancefloor. In 2015, the building transformed again into a 5-star boutique hotel with 39 rooms, keeping the original pool, the club, and enough theatrical atmosphere to make you feel like you've walked into a film set. Interior designer Tristan Auer (also behind Le Crillon) handled the rooms — bright, retro, and surprisingly serene upstairs, while the ground floor stays gloriously moody.

Classic Room
The entry-level room at Les Bains, and at 23m² it's compact but smartly designed. Bespoke furniture, Gainsbourg-style carpet, precious wood and white marble accents. Lighter and brighter than the moody public spaces downstairs — a deliberate contrast that works. Marshall Bluetooth speaker on the bedside, heated bathroom floors, and Terre de Mars toiletries as standard.

Deluxe Room
The Deluxe hits a sweet spot in the lineup. At 33m² there's genuine space, and some of these rooms come with balconies. The design hits its stride here — Tristan Auer's mix of distressed gray accent walls, white marble headboards, velvet tub sofas, and teal rotary phones feels less like a hotel room and more like a very well-curated apartment.

Same 33m² footprint as the Deluxe but with upgraded positioning or features — typically higher floors or south-facing exposure. Some Executive rooms include private terraces and outdoor showers, which is a genuine differentiator in central Paris.

The first category that really opens up into suite territory, with a defined seating area alongside the bedroom. At 36m² it's not enormous but the layout works well. Some Junior Suites include private hammam — a very nice touch if you want spa access without leaving your room.

The crown jewel. 120m² on the top floor, sleeping 2 to 4 guests. Named after the original 1885 spa, this suite has a private hammam, full kitchen, dedicated living and dining spaces, and terraces with genuine Paris rooftop panoramas. If you're going to do Les Bains properly, this is how you do it.

At 48m², this is where things get properly roomy. A full suite layout with bedroom, living area, and a bathroom that earns its own attention. Upper-floor suites come with penthouse-adjacent views over the rooftops of the 3rd arrondissement.

Works by French and international artists throughout, plus a library of multilingual books — a nod to the literary figures who frequented the original 1885 spa. Steps up from the Classic with an extra 3m² and generally better positioning within the building. Same design DNA — velvet, white marble, bespoke furniture — but with more breathing room. Some Superior rooms have courtyard views.

The basement nightclub runs most weekends with a rotating program of rising-star DJs, live bands, and indie/electro/pop-rock acts. This is the direct descendant of Les Bains Douches — same room, same energy. Weekly programming listed on the hotel's events page.
Private sessions exploring the Les Bains Guerbois fragrance collection — signature scents including 2015 Le Phénix, Oud Laqué, and Damier. Can be booked as standalone experiences or combined with spa treatments using the signature scented massage oils.
The hotel offers full or partial venue privatization for lunches, dinners, cocktail parties, showrooms, talks, photo shoots, and film productions. From the intimate Salon Chinois lounge to the full Club des Bains, with a tailor-made service team.
Every Sunday at 11am the legendary dancefloor of the Club des Bains is turned into a yoga space in collaboration with Humble Warrior. Flow, Vibe, and Revive classes set to rhythmic hip-hop in a subdued atmosphere. One of the more original wellness offerings in Paris.
