Les Clefs de Troplong Mondot
Understated wine-country house. Feels like staying in the private home of a very well-traveled friend who happens to produce some of Saint-Émilion's finest reds. No lobby, no concierge desk — just warm hosts, foraged-style décor, and countryside quiet.
Walk or take an electric bike into Saint-Émilion rather than driving — the village is a pleasure to wander and parking is a headache.
Why It Matters
One of the only places in Bordeaux where you can sleep inside a Premier Grand Cru Classé B estate, walk to a Michelin-starred restaurant on site, and watch horses work the vines from your bedroom window. Pastry chef Adrien Salavert is the 2026 French Dessert Champion. The restaurant also holds a Green Michelin star for its sustainability approach — a 6,800m² permaculture kitchen garden and 90% of suppliers within 30 minutes.
A working Premier Grand Cru Classé wine estate with just four guest accommodations — called 'The Keys' — set on the highest point of Saint-Émilion, with a commanding panorama of the medieval village below. The 19th-century main building, overhauled in 2019, is all curated vintage furnishings, deep sofas, a library, and working fireplaces. This is deliberate slow travel: you're sleeping inside a living, breathing vineyard where horses still till the rows, the restaurant holds a Michelin star, and the biggest decision each day is whether to take an electric bike into the village or simply stay put.

A 1hr 45min estate walk geared to all ages. Children explore via a miniature electric Land Rover and meet Eddy the squirrel mascot. Adults receive a tasting of Troplong Mondot and Mondot wines; children get a soft drink and snack.
A private 75-minute introduction to the vineyard and winery, taking in the terroir's nuances and the winemaking process. Ends with a tasting of one vintage each of Troplong Mondot and Mondot wines. Up to 8 people.
The most in-depth estate experience. Board a vintage Land Rover for a guided tour of the vineyard and winery, covering terroir, winemaking craft, and the best vantage points on the estate. Ends with a vertical tasting of four Troplong Mondot vintages and one Mondot vintage. Private, for up to 6 people.
Put on boots, grab a basket, and join the harvest team during September–October. The day covers vineyard ripeness checks, fermentation monitoring in the winery, and a post-harvest lunch with the team. Private, for up to 6 people, Monday–Friday during harvest.
A 3-hour private morning tour of the estate followed by a secluded vineyard picnic. The basket is prepared by chef David Charrier and his team at Les Belles Perdrix, paired with Troplong Mondot wines. Available May–August, Wednesday–Saturday, for 2–4 people, starting at 10am.
Guests can order a curated picnic basket from the Les Belles Perdrix team — chef Adrien Salavert's sweet creations also feature — to enjoy at a secluded spot in the vineyard.
