Book the private spa (Jacuzzi + sauna) in advance — it's reserved for exclusive use and fills quickly, especially weekends

Why It Matters

A French historic monument hotel that's actually usable as a hotel — not a museum, not overrestored. The Corneille literary connection is real history, not marketing. SLH membership gives it global credibility. At just 25 rooms across multiple buildings, it stays genuinely intimate. The private spa (sauna + Jacuzzi, booked exclusively) is a rarity at this price point in Normandy.

A 16th and 17th-century Norman manor house listed as a historic monument, set in 2.5 hectares of parkland in Canapville — 10 minutes from Deauville by car. Pierre Corneille used to stay here to visit his sister Marie, and the place still carries that unhurried, retreat-from-the-world feeling. Today it's a 25-room SLH boutique hotel spread across a restored main manor and nine garden cottages, with a heated outdoor pool, private spa cabin, and a fireside lounge that makes evenings very easy to spend on-site.
