Les Roches Rouges
Mid-century modernist cool. Minimal without being cold. Art-directed but not self-conscious about it. Think waxed concrete, De Sede leather sofas, curated bookshelves, and a soundtrack of bossa nova and French jazz. The color palette echoes the landscape — red for the Estérel rocks, deep blue for the sea, white for the walls, ochre for the sand.
The Classique rooms at 20m² are genuinely compact — if space matters, go at least Deluxe
Why It Matters
One of the few 5-star hotels on the Riviera that isn't trying to shout about it. The 30m rock-carved seawater pool merging into the horizon is a genuine showstopper. A private pontoon lets guests and visitors arrive directly by boat. The hotel's 'Récif' restaurant held a Michelin star in 2019; dining has since been restructured under new restaurant names.
A 1950s modernist building perched right at the water's edge on the Golden Corniche of the Estérel, between Cannes and Saint-Tropez. The building is partially built into the red volcanic cliffside and looks out directly at the Île d'Or — the only other structure in the view. Restored by Parisian design duo Festen, then extended by architects ASL, it trades Riviera glam for something quieter: white interiors, concrete floors, Guy Bareff terracotta wall lamps, Charlotte Perriand rattan furniture, and 68 rooms where the sea is always in frame.

The entry-level room and genuinely snug at 20m². Set at sea level with direct terrace access. Light pours in through floor-to-ceiling glass, and the modernist bones of the original building show through. Good for two people who plan to spend most of their time outside.

Deluxe
All Deluxe rooms face the sea. The design evokes the spirit of a boat cabin — intimate, purposeful, with bespoke furniture and natural materials. Some have an open-plan bathroom or a circular polished concrete shower, which looks great but means zero privacy.

Two separate bedrooms connected by a small entrance hall, sleeping up to five. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the main bedroom, an 11m² balcony, two bathrooms each with both bathtub and shower. One of the few genuinely family-practical rooms at the hotel. Pets welcome with a supplement.

Spacious and bright, facing either the sea or garden. Has a proper sitting area with a sofa bed, making it workable for families with one child or a third guest. Bold artwork and photography on the walls — these have a full personality that the standard rooms hold back slightly.

The sea-facing Junior Suite upgrade. The Mediterranean is right there from the moment you walk in. The spacious balcony is genuinely usable for lingering, not just a quick look. Same suite category as the Junior but explicitly positioned for the sea view rather than gardens.

Opens onto the Mediterranean garden rather than the sea directly. Slightly more space than the Classique and good value if you're not precious about the water view — the garden is fragrant with pine and you still get a private balcony or terrace.
