Sources de Cheverny
Wine-country bohemian luxury. Think carefully curated antique furniture, earthy palettes, and a French country house feel that's more Alice Tourbier's personal taste than a hotel design brief. The wooden cabins skew Scandi-rustic; the château rooms lean toward period French elegance. Neither feels stuffy.
Book Le Favori well in advance — the Michelin-starred restaurant fills quickly, especially on weekends
Why It Matters
One of the Loire Valley's most complete estate experiences: a 1-Michelin-star restaurant (Le Favori), Caudalie spa built into the former cellar, estate-produced wine (La Grand Vigne), and genuine countryside spread over 110 private acres. Sister property to Les Sources de Caudalie in Bordeaux. Holds 2 Michelin Guide hotel keys.
A 110-acre estate set in the Loire Valley, roughly equidistant between Chambord and Chenonceau. Created by Alice and Jérôme Tourbier, it's built around an 18th-century limestone château — the Château du Breuil — surrounded by converted stone farmhouses, Scandinavian-style wooden cabins, a lake fringed with gorse, orchards, and working vineyards. The 49 rooms and suites are spread across these structures, each decorated differently with antique finds from local brocantes. Add a Michelin-starred restaurant, a Caudalie spa, and electric bikes for château-hopping, and you have a rare property that actually earns the word 'estate.'
