Built in 1899 as a Belle Époque retreat for Archduke Franz Ferdinand, King Vittorio Emanuele III, and Cornelius Vanderbilt, Lido Palace is the first 5-star hotel in Trentino — and still the best address on the northern tip of Lake Garda. Architect Alberto Cecchetto's 2011 redesign layered glass and steel extensions onto the historic villa, turning it into something genuinely surprising: ornate neoclassical bones with a museum-like lobby, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a dining pavilion that practically floats over the lake. Forty-two rooms spread across 12 categories, a 1,500 m² spa, two pools, and a Michelin-keyed restaurant make the case for staying put.
