Why It Matters
The owners behind Black Seed Bagels, The Smile, and Pebble Bar bring serious NYC hospitality credibility to an under-the-radar ski town. The property sits literally on the NY/MA state line, equidistant between New York City and Boston. Catamount Mountain Resort is a short walk away. There's almost nothing else like it in the immediate area — which was exactly the point.
Little Cat Lodge is a 14-room alpine boutique hotel at the foot of Catamount Mountain in Hillsdale, NY — right where the Hudson Valley bumps into the Berkshires. The name comes from Catamount itself, not any feline. It opened in 2022 after NYC restaurateurs Noah Bernamoff (James Beard-nominated) and Matt Kliegman bought and gut-renovated the old Swiss Hutte Inn (itself a fixture since 1962), working with designer Loren Daye of Love Is Enough to push the alpine aesthetic further rather than modernize it away. Custom maple furniture, mushroom-wood wall panels, whimsical original artwork — it looks like it's always been there, which was entirely the point.

Same 400 sq ft footprint as the King, with two double beds for groups of up to four adults. Mushroom wood walls, card table and chairs, original artwork throughout. Private bathroom with stand-in shower and a private terrace or patio.
Two Double Beds
East Suite
On the 2nd floor of the Main Building. Two bedrooms — one King, one Queen — both with sunrise mountain views. Two bathrooms (one with bathtub/shower combo, one with stand-in shower), a seating area with a sectional sofa, small dining table, and a large TV for movie nights. Sleeps up to 5 (4 adults, 1 child). No dogs in suites.
King
Mushroom wood-lined walls, a custom twin daybed for an extra guest, and a card table set the tone. Private bathroom with stand-in shower, built-in storage, and a private terrace or patio with seating. Mountain views from every room on property.
KingKing Accessible
Corner room with mushroom wood walls and original artwork. The accessible bathroom has both stand-in and roll-in shower options, an adjacent dedicated parking space, and a private patio. Sleeps up to 2 adults.
KingWest Suite
The biggest room on property at 1,343 sq ft across two floors. Ground level has a Queen bedroom, powder room, full bath with walk-in shower, large soaking tub, double vanity, and water closet — all opening to an airy living room with kitchenette and dining table. Up in the loft: a King bedroom, a writing nook complete with turntable, and a deep U-shaped lounging sofa. Sleeps up to 8 (4 adults plus 4 children). No dogs in suites.

In warmer months, the area offers golfing, cycling, and hiking. The lodge serves as a base for exploring Columbia County, the Berkshires, and the Taconic range.
Wooded trails on the 7-acre property connect directly to Catamount Mountain Resort. Good for all seasons — leaf peeping in fall, snowshoeing in winter.
Heated outdoor pool open seasonally with sun lounges, hammock, and an al fresco bar. Guests describe it as clean and well-maintained with plenty of seating.
Catamount Mountain Resort is a 5-minute walk from the lodge. The bar at Edwards Tavern frames the slopes directly — walk in, ski out. This is the core reason many guests book, especially from NYC and Boston.
