Locanda Don Serafino is a 11-room boutique hotel spread across several patchworked Baroque-era stone buildings in the UNESCO-listed heart of Ragusa Ibla. The La Rosa family opened it in 2004 as a companion to their Michelin-starred restaurant — and the contrast between rough-hewn limestone cave walls and sleek contemporary furnishings (Philippe Starck Ghost Chairs, Kartell and LAGO pieces) is the whole point. The cave rooms are the standout draw, but so is the attached gastronomic universe: a 2000-label wine cellar, tasting menus by chef Vincenzo Candiano, and a beach club down at Marina di Ragusa rounding out a full Sicilian experience.

This is the cave room. About 35 sqm on the ground floor with independent street access via a door/window, and the walls are raw untreated limestone rock. The bathroom leans into it: two washbasins, a bathtub carved directly into the rock, plus a separate shower. No bathroom window. Not suitable for guests with allergies or respiratory issues.

At 65 sqm, it sits above the Michelin-starred restaurant on Via Avvocato Giovanni Ottaviano — a 500-metre walk from the main hotel — which means check-in happens at the hotel but breakfast is served in the starred restaurant itself. The space is a natural cave with untreated rock walls, Kartell and LAGO designer furniture, an external staircase for private access, and a private garden with a Jacuzzi. It's the most dramatic room in the property.
