Lost Lindenberg
Eco-treehouse commune meets architectural statement. Think lofi surfer energy filtered through sharp design sensibility — Indonesian antiques next to contemporary photography, handmade ceramics, and soft grey linen that matches the black sand. Communal and intentionally social.
Request Putu's guided river and waterfall hike — 20-30 minutes through jungle to a private swimming spot with banana bread at the end
Why It Matters
One of Bali's most architecturally distinctive small hotels. Only 8 rooms. Fully vegan and solar-powered, GreenSign certified, member of SLH's Considerate Collection. Named Tatler's Best 2026 (Best Boutique). Co-designed by Alexis Dornier. Surf lessons included in every rate. Check-in is handled entirely via WhatsApp — you arrive to a temple blessing, not a reception desk.
Eight treehouse suites spread across four timber towers on a deserted black lava-sand beach — this is Bali's west coast at its most raw and remote. Designed by Alexis Dornier and Studio Jencquel (Max Jencquel), it runs entirely on solar power, serves 100% plant-based food, and treats communal living as the whole point. There are no pools hidden from other guests, no private dining by default, and no TV in the rooms. That's very much the idea.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
Evening bonfires on the black-sand beach where guests gather on bean bags with drinks to watch the sunset. The focal ritual of the property — locals sometimes join for the spectacle.
Poolside film screenings on rainy days (iPads with Apple TV and Netflix also available). The hotel occasionally hosts cinema events open to the local community.
Resident surf instructors teach on the hotel's own LOST Beach. Beginner-friendly waves right on the property. Boards made in collaboration with Pyzel Surfboards available to hire. Wetsuits and wax available in the hotel boutique. Advanced surfers can take the VW campervan to Medewi Point — Bali's longest wave, 10 minutes away.
Reef snorkelling available off the west coast.
Borrow one of the hotel's electric bicycles or e-scooters and head into Pekutatan village, the surrounding temples, or further along the coast.
Staff set up football nets, volleyball, homemade kite flying, and flower offering making — particularly good for families with children.
Yoga sessions on the sun deck beside the jungle pool, taught by a local instructor. Morning classes available.
A 20–30 minute guided jungle hike with local Putu and his family to a completely private section of the river. You swim in the mini rapids, cool off, and eat homemade banana bread on the riverbank. One of the standout activities according to guests.
At check-in, guests are invited to a small ceremony at one of the nearby temples and to help staff prepare daily Balinese offerings (blessings). A Tridatu bracelet is tied on arrival. The hotel's closeness with the Pekutatan Hindu community makes this genuine rather than performative.
The hotel's own vintage VW bus runs guests to Medewi fishing village, the Holy Tree surf shop and café, secret waterfalls and coves. Pro surfers use it to reach Medewi Point. All tours run exclusively with local operators from the village.
