Safari Lodge
Classic African bush lodge with sophisticated interiors — carved plaster panels, stone bathtubs, cathedral windows, and an artistic fireplace engraved with animal designs. Colonial romance done tastefully, not kitschy.

Why It Matters
One of only 7 private concessions in all of Kruger, meaning vehicles can traverse off-road and the crowds that plague public Kruger simply don't exist here. The 15,000-hectare exclusivity ratio — 32 guests max — is genuinely rare for a national park setting.
Lukimbi is one of only 7 private concessions inside Kruger National Park, sitting on 15,000 hectares of the Lwakahle concession in the park's southern section. Just 32 guests share all of it — 16 suites, one waterhole, and 123 km of private roads — which is what actually separates it from most Kruger lodges. The main lodge overlooks the Lwakahle River where elephants, hippos, and leopards regularly come to drink; being here is as good as the drives themselves.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Morning and afternoon open Land Rover drives on 123 km of private roads. No more than 8 guests per vehicle; max 6 vehicles on the concession at any time. Vehicles are permitted off-road under controlled conditions — unusual for Kruger. Expert guides paired with local trackers who were born in the area. Morning drives depart just before sunrise and return for breakfast; afternoon drives depart before sunset and return for dinner. Sundowner stop with Amarula or G&T included on afternoon drives.
The 15,000-hectare concession is home to 420+ native bird species. Dedicated bird walks and birding along the Crocodile River are available. The riverside habitats attract large concentrations of waterbirds and raptors.
Guided walking safari departing after breakfast into the concession. 60–120 minutes, 2–5 km depending on group fitness and interests. Track animals by spoor, identify medicinal plants, learn geology, spot birds. Led by accredited trails guides with backup guide always present. Maximum 8 guests, minimum age 16.
A 10-hour immersive walking safari available only in the cooler months (May–July) and only for guests staying 3 nights or longer. Depart at 07:00, breakfast and lunch served in the bush, return at 17:00. Minimum 4 / maximum 8 guests. Must be pre-booked prior to arrival. Price available on request.
A 10–15 minute drive from the lodge brings guests to the Crocodile River — Lukimbi is the only lodge in Kruger with access to this stretch. After a safety briefing, guides lead a 200–300 metre walk down to the water's edge. Sit on granite rocks and watch hippos, crocodiles, hundreds of bird species, and game coming to drink. More contemplative than physically demanding. Maximum 8 guests, minimum age 16.
Dedicated kids activities including kiddies bush walks, arts and crafts, treasure hunts, special children's dinners, and picnics. Private safari vehicles can be arranged for children aged 4–7 (mandatory). A playroom is on-site. Babysitting services are available and must be pre-booked (not available during game drives).
Optional excursion to Leopard Creek Golf Course, designed by Gary Player, about one hour from the lodge. Crocodiles, hippos, elephants, and buffalo are regular course hazards. Air-conditioned transfer departs after breakfast, tee-off around 11am, returns in the late afternoon. Must be pre-booked. Cost available on request.
A romantic exclusive dining experience in the lodge's private wine cellar, surrounded by 100+ South African wines. Requested in advance and particularly popular for honeymoons, anniversaries, and proposals.
