Lympstone Manor is the personal vision of celebrated chef Michael Caines MBE — a Georgian country house built by the Baring family in the 1760s, now a five-star hotel perched above the Exe Estuary in Devon. It holds a Michelin star for its restaurant, 2 Michelin Keys for the hotel, and is a proud member of Relais & Châteaux. The 28-acre estate includes a 10.8-acre working vineyard producing award-winning English wines, six woodland shepherd huts, and a Pool House Restaurant wrapped around a heated outdoor pool.

The entry-level option, situated at the front of the house overlooking the fountain and lawn. Interconnecting rooms are available for families. Note: guest reviews flag that Classic Rooms can feel small relative to the price — choose carefully and look for deals.

Comfortable, luxurious rooms with private balconies looking out across the Exe Estuary. A solid mid-tier option that keeps the view without the full suite footprint or price.

Front-of-house rooms overlooking the entrance fountain and manicured lawn. No estuary view, but comfortably proportioned. Two can be interconnected — useful for families or groups. Garden-view rooms at a more accessible price point than estuary-facing categories.

The largest category of suite in the manor, designed for full indoor-outdoor living. Panoramic estuary views from private terraces, with outdoor fire pits and soak tubs. Choose between first-floor balcony rooms or ground-floor rooms with direct terrace access.
KingGreenfinch Suite (Superior Estuary Suite)
The Greenfinch boasts the largest private outdoor area of any room on the estate. A balcony leads to a 103 sqm private garden with a fire pit and soak tub. Interior is 43 sqm with partitioned living and sleeping areas — so while the indoor space is more compact, the outdoor living is exceptional.

Luxury Shepherd Huts
Six individually named woodland huts (Hare's Rest, Otter Holt, Bee Hive, Hedgehog Row, Fox Den, Badger Sett) set in woodland overlooking the vineyard. Each has apartment-style open-plan living with a kitchenette, log burner, skylight or roll-top bath, outdoor fire pit, and either a soak tub or Scandinavian Hikki wood-fired hot tub. Bee Hive and Fox Den have a golden roll-top bath inside the hut and the Hikki wood-fired hot tub outside. All sleep 2 adults plus children. Dog and family friendly.

A circular walking path taking in the full 28-acre estate — vineyard, network of ponds, and the hotel's outdoor sculpture collection featuring works by Carol Peace and others. One of the most enjoyable ways to get your bearings on the property.
The hotel curates guided recommendations and can arrange excursions for guests including hiking, cycling, wakeboarding, off-road driving, and coastal walks on the Jurassic Coast. Powderham Castle and Newton Abbot Racecourse are also nearby.
The Berryhead and Mamhead dining rooms can be hired privately for special occasions, anniversaries, birthdays, or business lunches.
Guests staying in the shepherd huts can arrange a private BBQ experience through Reception. A nice way to dine al fresco in the woodland without heading back to the main house.
Guided tours of the 10.8-acre estate vineyard, run every Tuesday and Friday between May and September. The vineyard produces award-winning English wines including the Triassic Pinot Noir 2020 (IWC Gold Medal 2023) and the Classic Cuvée sparkling wine.
Two basement wine cellars with 600 bins, a dedicated tasting room with state-of-the-art Wine Emotion dispensing machines, and a bespoke-built granite tasting table. Available as part of vineyard experiences.
