Madame Rêve
Contemporary luxury with genuine soul. Warm amber tones, walnut paneling, oak floors, bronze Bisazza mosaic bathrooms, and over 800 pieces of mail art commissioned from 700 artists. The corridors run notably dim — atmospheric or frustrating depending on your temperament. The crowd skews fashionable and Parisian-adjacent. Not stuffy, not minimalist; rich materials with a lightness of touch.
Parisians tend to book the quieter sky-garden-facing courtyard rooms — they're more serene than the monument-view rooms and still lovely
Why It Matters
One of the very few luxury hotels in Paris housed inside a working post office (La Poste still operates on the 2nd floor — guests can mail letters using the hotel's Mont Blanc fountain pens and logo stationery). The architectural bones are extraordinary: a 19th-century Haussmannian edifice with soaring ceilings on the ground floor and glass-roofed guest corridors above. The 1,000-sqm rooftop garden planted with cherry trees is genuinely one of the best in the city. Listed on the 2022 Condé Nast Traveler Hot List.
The Louvre Post Office — La Poste du Louvre, a grand Haussmannian building dating to 1888 — closed in 2015. Founder and art director Laurent Taïeb saw something most people missed and transformed it into a 5-star hotel spanning 7,000 sqm. The result is 83 rooms and suites (plus a 130-sqm penthouse) stacked under a monumental glass roof, nearly all with private terraces or balconies and views of something recognizable: the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre, Saint-Eustache, or a lush suspended garden. Add a 1,000-sqm rooftop, two proper restaurants, and a small but serious spa, and this isn't just a place to sleep near the Louvre — it's a destination in itself.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
Bikes available for hire to explore the surrounding 1st arrondissement. Tuileries, the riverbanks, and the Marais are all flat, easy cycling distance.
The 2nd floor of the building is still an operating French post office. Rooms come with a Mont Blanc fountain pen and hotel-branded stationery and envelopes. Write a postcard or letter and drop it at La Poste upstairs — the building's original purpose, still functioning.
Several flexible spaces can be privately reserved for meetings, seminars, cocktail events, or intimate receptions. The ROOF terrace can also be hired privately.
On request, the hotel can arrange a private yoga class on the ROOF garden at sunrise — before the city wakes up and well before the public arrives. One of the more memorable ways to start a Paris morning.
The hotel arranges exclusive VIP access tours to the Louvre, curated through dedicated partners. An 8-minute walk from the front door — the proximity is the whole point.
