MADE Hotel plays against type in NoMad. While Manhattan hotels often lean into prewar grandeur, this 18-floor independent boutique goes the other direction — reclaimed walnut floors, exposed concrete ceilings, Japanese shibori fabrics, bronze fixtures, and zero velvet rope energy. It was built from the ground up by developer Sam Gelin, designed by Studio MAI, and aimed squarely at the city's creative class. The crown jewel is Good Behavior, an 18th-floor tiki cocktail lounge with a 22-foot curving glass wall and direct sight lines to the Empire State Building.
