KASEKE and KÄBI are the better cold-weather picks — both have large indoor fireplaces and dramatic glass walls. POKU's highlight is the outdoor sauna and bathtub, which shine most in warmer months.

Why It Matters

Each villa is by a different award-winning Estonian architect, and KASEKE won the public vote at Dezeen Awards 2021 and was nominated for the EU Mies van der Rohe Prize. The on-site SOO restaurant earned a Michelin Green Star in 2025. The whole property occupies roughly 25 hectares of wetlands and manor grounds that have been deliberately left wild.

Three architect-designed nature villas on stilts above Estonian wetlands, set on the grounds of a 15th-century manor complex 45 minutes from Tallinn. Each villa was created by a different Estonian architect, and each one is genuinely distinct — not just variations on a theme. On-site SOO restaurant holds a Michelin Green Star (2025) and is one of the most-talked-about dining experiences in the country.

Nature Villa KÄBI

From EUR425 / night

Opened February 2022, KÄBI is the most secluded of the three — tucked deeper between trees than the others. Its pine-cone-like silhouette comes from a wood shake siding facade, and the design includes two tower-like structures: one is a chimney, the other a glass-topped lantern that floods the interior with natural light. At 38 sqm, it sits between KASEKE and POKU in size. The outdoor jacuzzi extends into the forest and is lit at night, making it the most atmospheric of the three for evening soaks. The covered terrace is sheltered on both sides, offering more weather protection than the other villas.

Nature Villa KASEKE

From EUR295 / night

The first villa, opened August 2020. Designed by Mari Hunt of b210 architects, KASEKE is the smallest of the three at just 22 sqm but makes clever use of every centimeter. The name refers to the birch trees surrounding it — not a single one was cut during construction. Exterior and interior are thermally modified ash, giving it a deep, rich color. Inside: a king bed facing floor-to-ceiling wetland views, a wood-burning fireplace, a rain shower, and an incinerating toilet. The standout is the rooftop terrace — a platform that steps up from the building's deck and sits right at the forest edge. It won the Dezeen Awards 2021 (public vote, small interior category) and was nominated for the EU Mies van der Rohe Prize.

Nature Villa POKU

From EUR425 / night

Opened June 2022 and the largest of the three villas at 50 sqm. Designed by KTA (Kadarik Tüür Arhitektid), POKU takes its name from the tussock sedges (pokus) native to the wetland terrain. The villa consists of 7 separate pod-shaped rooms, each with a vaulted ceiling and wetland views — an architectural feat that reads like a cluster of organic forms growing out of the bog. The thatched roof blends into the landscape. Highlights: a private hot Estonian sauna (large enough that one reviewer called it bigger than many hotel rooms), an outdoor bathtub, and a superb terrace with an outdoor fireplace. Best choice for warmer months when the outdoor elements shine.
