Maison Armance
Parisian pied-à-terre, bohemian-chic. Think haute couture moodboard meets private apartment: velvet, tweed, brass, canework, sky-palette pastels. Intimate and deliberately discreet — no signage, no lobby theater.

Why It Matters
Named after Stendhal's novel — the writer lived at this address in the early 1800s. Later a quiet refuge for Serge Gainsbourg and Nina Simone. Opened in its current boutique form in January 2019 after renovation by Esprit de France. The 6th-floor reception-as-salon concept is genuinely unusual and makes breakfast feel like a rooftop affair. One of the few small hotels in this price tier to hold a Tablet Hotels listing in the 1st arrondissement.
Twenty rooms in a building Stendhal called home in the early 19th century, behind a carriage gate on Rue Cambon that gives nothing away from the street. Push it open, cross the quiet interior courtyard, and take the elevator to the 6th-floor reception — which doubles as a literary salon with rooftop views over Paris. The noise of one of the city's most trafficked fashion districts simply stops. Interiors blend storm-grey velvet, brass fittings, tweed headboards, and solid parquet floors, drawing on Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and Haussmannian references without going heavy-handed about it.
