Maison Brummell Majorelle
Contemporary modernist architecture meets Moroccan artisan craft. Think smooth stone staircases carved out of solid rock, Egon Eiermann chairs, Ingo Maurer paper lamps, bespoke brass and wood furniture from local maker Maison Nicole, and Italian Vesoi pendant lamps. The vibe is calm and intentional — more private design residence than a hotel.

Why It Matters
Featured in Dezeen, Monocle, Condé Nast Traveler, Surface, Architectural Digest India, and Elle Decor. Selected for the Michelin Guide. One of the very few purpose-built modern design hotels in Marrakech — not a riad conversion. Direct views onto the walls of Jardin Majorelle from the pool terrace.
Eight rooms behind an unmarked black arched door on a quiet residential street. Maison Brummell Majorelle was built from scratch — not converted from a riad — by New Zealand architect Bergendy Cooke and Moroccan architect Amine Abouraoui for Austrian hotelier Christian Schallert. The result is something Marrakech doesn't really have: a modernist, sculptural house that takes Moroccan craft traditions (tadelakt walls, terrazzo floors, handmade brass hardware) and runs them through a very contemporary design sensibility. It took three years to build and fits up to 16 guests.
