Newcastle
Bold, design-led boutique-chain hotel. Dark palettes, statement headboards, cheeky brand voice. Think upscale without the stuffiness — cocktails at the bar feel as natural as a power breakfast in the brasserie.

Why It Matters
The only hotel with a front-row seat to the Gateshead Millennium Bridge on the Quayside. Grade II listed building with genuine architectural character, and one of the best-positioned hotels in the city for the Baltic, Sage Gateshead, and the river.
A 122-room upscale hotel carved out of a Grade II listed former Co-operative Society warehouse right on Newcastle's Quayside. The building has serious bones — brick, height, riverside position — and Malmaison has filled it with its signature dark interiors, moody lighting, and bold design. Rooms are getting a full makeover from January 2025, so expect fresh finishes on top of the existing Mal formula. No pool on site, but there's a TEMPLESPA spa, a Josper-grill brasserie, and direct views of the Gateshead Millennium Bridge from the upper Bridge View rooms and the Signature Suite.
