Why It Matters
The French Mama Shelter brand's first and only entry into Portugal and the Iberian Peninsula. The design team put real thought into the local references: sea-inspired carpets drawn from azulejo tile patterns, Bordallo Pinheiro ceramics on the walls, cork-framed screens. The rooftop has genuine views of the Tagus, not a sliver between buildings.
Mama Shelter's only Portuguese outpost sits between the Botanical Garden and Parque Eduardo VII, a short walk from Avenida da Liberdade. The French brand's irreverent design DNA lands well here: 126 rooms with TVs framed in Portuguese cork, lampshades made from local straw, and walls decorated with Bordallo Pinheiro ceramics. The ground-floor restaurant runs a French brasserie format with a Portuguese twist — pizza, grilled octopus, steak tartare — while the rooftop (open June through October) actually delivers on its promise of Tagus River views.

Live DJ sets in the ground-floor restaurant every Wednesday through Saturday from 21:30 until 01:30. The restaurant stays lively late on weekend nights with a minimum spend of €28/person on Fridays and Saturdays.
DJ sets on the rooftop bar every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday starting at 19:00. Open to hotel guests and the public.

Two meeting spaces: Atelier Penthouse (100 sqm, up to 100 people, with direct access to a terrace and rooftop) and Atelier 1 (30 sqm, up to 30 people). Both equipped with LED screens and Bose sound systems. A Patio is also available for breaks.
The hotel does not have a gym. The nearest is Fitness Hut Marquês de Pombal at Rua Alexandre Herculano 2, approximately 0.7km away.
