Why It Matters
First Mama Shelter in Central/Eastern Europe (after Belgrade). Interior by Jalil Amor. A genuine social-scene hotel where the bar and restaurant draw locals as well as guests — the Sunday brunch has become something of a local institution. The Holešovice location deliberately avoids the Old Town tourist crush while staying well-connected.
Mama Shelter Prague sits in Holešovice (Praha 7), one of those neighborhoods that's genuinely cool rather than just marketed as such — the National Gallery is literally next door, and the tram to Old Town takes five minutes. Opened in late summer 2018, it spreads across ten floors with 238 rooms designed by Jalil Amor: think pop-art carpets, Lego-brick lampshade tassels, cartoon masks on bedside lamps, and smart screens loaded with free movies. The ground floor blurs the line between hotel lobby, bar, restaurant, and club space, with a 17-meter bar and a terrace that fills up fast on DJ nights.

Enough room to actually move around — 25 m² gives you space to do cardio if you feel like it, as the hotel puts it. Available as double or twin. Mama Penthouse
The flagship room — 69 m² with a separate chill-out lounge area in addition to the bedroom. One of a kind in the building. Bowers & Wilkins Bluetooth wireless radio/speaker system, Nespresso machine, 5-star bedding, and free movies. King size bed. The lounge area makes it actually feel like a small apartment rather than just a big hotel room.

Medium Mama
The smallest room in the lineup, but don't let that put you off. At 18 m² it's compact — storage for large luggage is tight — but it's smartly designed with views over Prague's rooftops. XL Mama Family
Two connecting rooms — one Medium (18 m²) and one Large (25 m²) — combining for a total of 43 m² for up to four people. The two king beds can be reconfigured to twin. XXL Mama
