Mangiabove Guest House
Rustic-chic, family-run farmhouse with a cosmopolitan edge. The hosts, Ignazio (Iggy) and Lara, spent years working in European capitals before coming back to run the place, and that mix of local passion and international polish shows in every detail. Community-oriented — guests tend to end up around the same pool, at the same communal kitchen, sharing Aperol Spritz at 5pm.
Breakfast is not included — add it at booking or on-site for €15/person/day. Worth it: the buffet runs 8–11am and eggs are made fresh to order with rosemary from the garden.
Why It Matters
Listed on both Tablet Hotels and the Michelin Guide. One of very few places in south-east Sicily where you get genuine agriturismo character without sacrificing comfort. Each apartment is named after its original farm function — FUOCO for the old blackened kitchen, BARONESSA for the queen cow's stall — and they are all self-contained with private entrances. The infinity pool with chromotherapy looks directly out over the Hyblaean countryside to the sea.
An 1860s Ragusan masseria (farmhouse) that the family who built it converted, generation by generation, into one of Sicily's most characterful small stays. The eight apartments each carry the name of the room they once were — a cow stall, a hay barn, a farmhouse kitchen — and the stone walls still feel like it. Perched on a natural terrace above the Mediterranean coast outside Marina di Ragusa, the property has a palm-fringed infinity pool that looks straight out to sea, plus a small pine grove, a vegetable garden you can actually pick from, and a communal sala that feels more like someone's living room than a hotel common area.
