A 32-room luxury mountain retreat inside a landmarked neoclassical sanatorium built in 1927–1929, perched at 1,200 meters in the fir forests of Mount Mainalo. The building served wounded soldiers and tuberculosis patients until penicillin made it obsolete; it then sat empty for eight decades before owner Stratis Batagias acquired it at auction and restored it with archaeologists on board. K-Studio and Monogon Office of Architecture handled the revival—think pale wood, terrazzo floors, copper tubs, rattan ceilings, and sheepskin upholstery. Opened July 2023.

The entry-level room at MANNA, but far from standard. Views of the ancient fir forest fill the large windows. High ceilings, heated floors, king bed with raw linen duvet. Good for two—feels intimate rather than cramped given the generous ceiling height and forest outlook.

A step up with the key addition of a private balcony or wooden deck that pushes out into the fir forest. The private outdoor space makes a real difference—morning coffee in the trees is the whole point of being here.

Faces the lily pond and the mountain rather than deep forest. King bed, balcony or deck, same high-spec finish. The pond view adds something different—sun loungers on the deck below, and at night the stars are exceptional up here at 1,200m.

Seriously spacious for a mountain hotel. The 38–42 sqm gives couples real room to breathe—built-in sofa area, large wooden deck, king bed. Forest views throughout. The Michelin Guide calls these out specifically for their large wooden decks.

The flagship room. At 52–55 sqm it is the largest in the hotel, with panoramic views of the lily pond and forest. The signature feature is the freestanding copper soaking tub—a genuine showpiece in the bathroom. Double stone sinks, large wooden deck. If you want the copper bath, this is the only room that has it.
