Manoir de Malagorse
Intimate owner-run maison d'hôtes with a boutique-hotel sensibility. Contemporary-rustic interiors, calm, design-forward but personal and warm. Feels like staying with very stylish friends who happen to also cook very well.
Book the Suites (Le Poulailler or L'Écurie) for pool-facing terraces and more privacy — they have kitchens too
Why It Matters
Michelin Guide-listed and a Tablet Hotels member. One of the few true owner-operated rural properties in southwest France where the hosts — a designer-eye Anna and chef-level Abel — are hands-on every single day of the season. The place took twenty years to become what it is.
A 19th-century stone manor on ten acres of rolling Quercy countryside, discovered and painstakingly restored by owners Anna and Abel over more than twenty years. Seven rooms and suites are split between the main house and converted stables — exposed beams, locally sourced stone floors, freestanding baths, not a lick of fussy period decor. The food is genuinely special: Abel runs a four-course table d'hôtes dinner twice a week in summer, sometimes around a fire pit. Open April through October only.
