Manor House Lindley
Maximalist Georgian grandeur meets contemporary personality. Every room takes a different design direction — Far East, William Morris, House of Hackney prints, exposed beams. The bars range from a glitzy lounge bar to an underground cellar with live music to a rooftop garden. It's theatrical and opinionated, but never stuffy.
Room 3 is a two-floor suite with the most spectacular bathroom in the building — twin sinks and a black roll-top bath
Why It Matters
Ranked 38th in the UK's Top 50 Boutique Hotels. Holds 5 AA Gold Stars and 3 AA Rosettes for its Lantern Room restaurant. Winner of Best Hotel Interior at the Northern Design Awards. The building itself is historically significant — the adjacent Lindley Clock Tower, commissioned by the same mill owner, was designed by revered Art Nouveau architect Edgar Wood and stands 83 feet tall.
A Grade II listed Georgian mansion that sat derelict for over 20 years before owner Sara Presley sank £4.5 million into restoring it. She opened the doors in April 2018 and turned it into one of West Yorkshire's most distinctive small hotels. Eleven individually designed rooms, three bars with very different personalities, a 3 AA Rosette restaurant, and a private gym — all packed into a golden-stone building that started life in 1874 as the home of local mill owner James Nield Sykes.
