Insider Tip

Book a Rooftop Studio if budget allows — private terrace, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a BOSE/Marshall speaker included. The step up from a Club Double (17m²) to a Rooftop (27m²) at £100 more per night is usually worth it.

Why It Matters

One of London's original boutique hotels, opened 2004 in a Victorian warehouse. Features a 1,500-foot borehole beneath the building that supplies complimentary filtered still and sparkling water to every guest and powers the air-conditioning. The 7 rooftop studios with private terraces are genuinely rare in central London.

Marrable's opened in 2004 as The Zetter — one of London's first proper boutique hotels — in a converted 19th-century warehouse on Clerkenwell Road. It rebranded to Marrable's in recent years but the DNA is unchanged: 59 individually decorated rooms (including 7 rooftop studios with private terraces), a French brasserie in the atrium, and a sustainability ethos that runs surprisingly deep for a city-centre hotel. The rooms are bold without being loud — colour-pop accents, Hypnos beds, Raindance showers, Verden toiletries — and the location puts you five minutes on foot from Farringdon's Elizabeth line connection.
