Martius Private Suites
Grand palazzo meets intimate boutique. Aristocratic bones — original frescoed ceilings, walls clad in coloured marble, 15-foot coffered ceilings — with plush contemporary furniture layered in. Feels more like living in a storied Roman apartment than staying at a conventional hotel. At once lavish and low-key.
Pay the €10 surcharge to have breakfast brought to your room at a time of your choosing — worth every cent
Why It Matters
The Palazzo Lavaggi has housed counts, cardinals, and the poet-playwright Vincenzo Monti. Today it holds just eight individually styled suites ranging from compact 25 sqm doubles to 75 sqm presidential suites with in-room jacuzzi and Turkish bath. It is one of the more genuine palazzo experiences in central Rome without requiring a grand-hotel budget.
Eight suites spread across the Palazzo Lavaggi, a grand historic building in Rome's Campo Marzio district — five minutes on foot to the Pantheon, under ten to Trevi Fountain. Frescoed ceilings, marble bathrooms with gold and copper leaf detailing, Ortigia bath products throughout. No pool, no full restaurant — but the rooms and the location are very much the point here.
