Why It Matters
Genuinely rare combination: working orchard and countryside calm, 5 minutes from one of France's most visited UNESCO cities. The property sits on an island that most visitors to Avignon never explore, giving it a sense of real rural Provence that the city-center hotels can't match.
A 17th-century Provençal farmhouse sitting on the Île de la Barthelasse — a flat, green island that bisects the Rhône just one bridge-crossing from Avignon's medieval walls. Five individually decorated B&B rooms and four self-catering apartments spread across two hectares of working orchard, ancient plane trees, and lavender paths. It's countryside living with city access: the Palais des Papes is 7km away, both Avignon train stations are a 12-minute drive.
