Masseria Agnello
Rustic-elegant agriturismo. Aristocratic farmhouse bones with modern creature comforts. Stone, wood, and olive groves are the dominant aesthetic — not slick or design-hotel polished, but genuinely atmospheric.
New management (Andrea Vita) takes over June 1, 2026, with a major renovation underway — worth checking for updated reviews after that date
Why It Matters
One of the few Tablet Hotels / Michelin Guide selections on Sicily's southern coast, and one of the most atmospheric places to use as a base for the Valley of the Temples (a UNESCO World Heritage Site 14 km away) and the Scala dei Turchi cliffs. The property itself is the draw — the grounds, the architecture, and the isolated hilltop setting are the experience.
Masseria Agnello is a restored 19th-century stone farmhouse perched on a hill above the Sicilian coast, about a 5-minute drive from the famous Scala dei Turchi white cliffs. It's an ex-farm — once the fiefdom of a noble Sicilian family — and no longer a working agricultural producer. But the renovation kept the bones: original stone walls, exposed wooden beams, and chandeliers coexist with air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, and a curated mix of antique and modern decor. Ten rooms, a seasonal pool, a restaurant cooking traditional Sicilian food, and fragrant gardens of rosemary, lavender, and thyme. That's the whole place.
