Moon
Whimsical Chinese mythology meets contemporary design hotel chic. Think peony mosaic marble bathrooms, red tulip chairs, lacquered screens, and massive Chinese lanterns in the lobby — all created under the direction of design outfit Wanders & yoo. Intimate, with only four rooms per floor, so it feels genuinely quiet.
Book a Half Moon room or higher to get a partial Victoria Harbour view — the New Moon rooms face the city only.
Why It Matters
The only Design Hotels member in Causeway Bay, and arguably the most story-driven boutique hotel in Hong Kong. The interior design by Marcel Wanders (of Wanders & yoo) ties every corner of the building back to the Moon Festival fable — it's not decorative wallpaper, it's a complete narrative environment. The Penthouse Suite alone, at 1,571sqft on the 36th floor with an 85-inch TV and fully-equipped Miele kitchen, is a standout in a city of impressive hotel suites.
Mira Moon is a 31-floor boutique hotel in Causeway Bay built around a single, very specific concept: the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival myth of the Moon Goddess and her Jade Rabbit. Every surface — the mosaic walls, the carved wooden ceilings, the handpicked ceramic urns, the latticed screens — tells that story. It's theatrically designed without being tacky, and it punches well above its 87-room weight class. Named Hong Kong's Leading Boutique Hotel at the World Travel Awards 2025 and picked by Condé Nast Traveller readers as one of the Best Hotels in Asia that same year.
