Mona Athens
Industrial-chic art hotel meets creative club. Raw and urban, softened by velvet drapes, handmade rugs, terrazzo floors, and original artworks. The mood is deliberately theatrical — think loft apartment of a well-traveled artist who also happens to host excellent parties.
Book Room 16 specifically for the emperor-size bed (200x200cm) and private balcony terrace — it's the best room in the building
Why It Matters
A former textile factory turned Michelin-recognized boutique hotel and art sales showroom. Named one of the World's Top 10 Hotels of 2023. Operated by House of Shila, which runs Athens' most talked-about creative members' club. The CLUB MONAMOUR rooftop events draw an eclectic mix of guests, members, and Athens' creative crowd. No two rooms are identical, and literally everything — furniture, carpets, ceramics, plants — is available to purchase.
Mona lives inside an eight-story, 1950s textile factory in Psirri — the kind of building that looks like it hasn't been touched in decades from the outside. That's the point. Step through the unmarked door (look for the red rose graffiti), and the weathered concrete, terrazzo floors, peeling paint, and exposed steel pipes become the backdrop for 20 obsessively curated rooms, a concept café-lounge, a members rooftop bar with unobstructed Acropolis views, and a basement speakeasy. Created by House of Shila — the team behind sister hotel Shila in Kolonaki — everything you see, touch, or sit on is for sale, from the ceramics to the organic cotton sheets.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
Mona operates as an active art sales showroom. Works by Greek and international artists are placed throughout all spaces. Staff can walk you through the collection. Everything — from ceramics to custom-knit carpets to the furniture in your room — is available for purchase.
The underground basement space periodically doubles as a boutique Pilates studio. Not a permanent fixture — check the What's On page for scheduled sessions.
Seasonal rooftop pop-up series running in the warmer months. Think cocktails, natural wines, specialty DJs, and a deliberately curated crowd of House of Shila members, hotel guests, and creative Athenians. Held roughly twice a week during the season. Acropolis as the backdrop.
Complimentary bicycles available for guests to explore the neighborhood. Useful for the flat streets around Monastiraki, the Agora, and Psirri.
The basement hosts regular live music gigs, DJ sets, exhibitions, and late-night dancing. Programming changes; check the What's On page for the calendar.
Occasional outdoor screenings on the rooftop during the warmer months. Part of the broader cultural programming run by House of Shila.
The Living Room's open-plan kitchen hosts rotating pop-up chef dinners and supper clubs, where visiting chefs cook alongside Mona's team for guests and members. Frequency varies — check the What's On page.
