Book a Superior Double for rooftop or Arènes de Lutèce views — the same size as Classic but far better outlook

Why It Matters

One of the few Paris boutiques where the interior design tells a coherent story — Deyrolle wallpapers, Pierre Frey velvet, and a free guest hammam in a building that has hosted Left Bank artists since 1876. Curated by Tablet Hotels and part of the MICHELIN Guide hotel selection.

A 1876 Left Bank mansion turned 30-room boutique, Hotel Monge sits in the heart of the 5th arrondissement between the Panthéon and the Jardin des Plantes. The building spent decades as the private residence of a family deeply connected to Paris's artistic Left Bank scene — and that DNA still shows. Interiors by designers Marie-Agnès Louboutin and Patrice Henry kept the bones: Hungarian point parquet floors, moulded ceilings, working Carrara marble fireplaces. Then they layered in Pierre Frey velvet, Deyrolle tropical-print wallpapers, and fibre optic lighting. Rooms run small (15–20m²), as is typical for central Paris, but are elegantly considered. The hotel leans into its mansion heritage with a tea salon, a self-serve honesty bar stocked with Veuve Cliquot, and a private eucalyptus hammam that's free for guests.

Classic Double Room

The entry-level room at Monge and, yes, 15m² is snug. But the design work justifies itself: velvet fabrics, tropical-print Deyrolle wallpaper, fibre optic lighting, and L'Occitane toiletries in the Italian shower. Triple-glazed windows keep street noise out. Free minibar included.

Deluxe Double Room

The Deluxe category gets you the street-facing view down Rue Monge and a bit more breathing room. Two rooms are fully accessible for guests with reduced mobility. These rooms have either an Italian shower or a bath, robes and slippers are included, and the Deyrolle wallpapers are particularly well-chosen here.

Superior Double Room

One step up from Classic, and worth it for the views. Some Superior rooms look out over the Parisian rooftops; others face the ancient Roman Arènes de Lutèce amphitheatre — one of the more unexpected hotel views in Paris. Same refined décor with velvet and Deyrolle wallpaper.
